Pop star Justin Bieber announced his face is partially paralyzed by a viral situation referred to as Ramsay Hunt syndrome, as a result of the same virus, varicella-zoster, that causes chicken pox x.
He advised fans in a YouTube video Friday that the virus had attacked "the nerve in my ear, facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis.
You can see this eye isn't blinking. I cannot smile in this side of my face. This nostril will now no longer move."
Bierber confident fans that he is "gonna get better" and that he was doing "facial exercises to get my face back to normal."
That weakness can cause difficulty with closing one eye, making facial expressions and eating, as food can fall out of the side of the weakened mouth.
According to Mount Sinai, full recovery isn't certain. Some get better in some months, though. The earlier it is caught the higher the risk of recovery.
